All about Temporary Protected Status

Updated: Sep 14, 2023

To all those already residing in the United States but are originally from countries suffering from national crises, humanitarian crises, or other crippiling issues, you have the option to continue residing in the US if your country is included in the TPS countries list. Learn more about TPS, and the countries included.

The world had grown to be violent and harsh. Many countries around the world experience civil or international violence. Making them unlivable to residents and to nationals who have migrated and want to return. Due to the growing violence and humanitarian issues we face, the United States has developed the Temporary Protected Status Program. A program tailored to preserving the safety of individuals already residing in the US whose hometowns are experiencing violence, crisis, or natural disaster.

The list of TPS countries consists of 16 countries

  1. Afghanistan

  2. Burma (Myanmar)

  3. Cameroon

  4. El Salvador

  5. Ethiopia

  6. Haiti

  7. Honduras

  8. Nepal

  9. Nicaragua

  10. Somalia

  11. South Sudan

  12. Sudan

  13. Syria

  14. Ukraine

  15. Venezuela

  16. Yemen

TPS authorization may be granted to nationals of the aforementioned countries. The status lasts 6,12, or 18 months and can be extended indefinitely as long as the threat/ inability to safely return home remains.

Book a consultation with a specialist at Dye Global Immigration if you're a national from the aforementioned countries already residing in the United States.
